Smart Rename for macOS

Introduction

Waikuu (« we », « us », « our ») develops Smart Rename, a batch file renaming application for macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

Our commitment: Your privacy is our priority. Smart Rename is designed to work entirely locally on your Mac, without collecting or transmitting your personal data.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Smart Rename does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your files or their contents

• Your file names (before or after renaming)

• Your photos or their metadata

• Your location

• Your personal information

• Your usage history

• Your credentials or passwords

Local Processing

All operations are performed locally on your Mac.

• Your files never leave your computer

• EXIF metadata is read locally from your files

• Templates are stored locally on your Mac

• No external servers process your data

Anonymous Analytics

To improve the app, we may collect anonymous, aggregated statistics through Apple’s App Analytics:

• App version – for compatibility

• macOS version – for compatibility

• Crash reports – for bug fixes

• App launches – for usage trends

This data cannot identify you personally and is handled by Apple according to their privacy policy.

Reverse Geocoding

The Smart Variables feature can convert GPS coordinates to city/country names.

• This uses Apple’s geocoding services

• Only GPS coordinates are sent (not your photos)

• This feature is optional

In-App Purchases

Smart Rename Pro purchases are processed by Apple.

• We never receive your payment information

• Apple handles all transactions securely

Local Storage

Smart Rename stores data locally on your Mac:

• Preferences – stored in App sandbox for your settings

• Templates – stored in ~/Library/Application Support/SmartRename/ for saved configurations

• Undo history – stored in memory (session only) for file name restoration

• License status – stored in App sandbox for Pro/Free status

This data stays on your Mac and is never synced or uploaded.

macOS Sandbox

Smart Rename uses Apple’s sandbox security:

• The app can only access files you explicitly select

• No access to other apps or system data

• Full macOS security protections apply

Your Rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations:

• Access: We don’t store personal data to access

• Deletion: Uninstall the app and delete ~/Library/Application Support/SmartRename/

• Portability: Your templates are local JSON files you can copy

Children’s Privacy

Smart Rename does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app processes files locally without data collection.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates.
