Privacy Policy – StyleSnap

Introduction

StyleSnap (« we », « our », or « us ») is a Chrome extension that reads the visual design of the web page you choose and turns it into a design file (design.md) for AI coding agents. This Privacy Policy explains how StyleSnap handles information.

The short version: StyleSnap runs entirely in your browser. It has no server, no account and no analytics, and it sends nothing anywhere.

What StyleSnap Reads

When you click Capture (or Pick element), StyleSnap reads the computed styles of the current page: colors, fonts, sizes, spacing, corner radius, shadows, layout, and the page's own CSS variables. It also records the page address and title so the capture can be labeled.

StyleSnap does not read form contents, passwords, cookies or browsing history, and it does nothing on a page until you click Capture. The capture script only reads the page; it never modifies it.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do NOT collect, store, or transmit:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • The pages you capture or the files StyleSnap produces
  • Usage analytics or behavior tracking
  • Device identifiers

StyleSnap makes no network requests. We have no servers that store your data, and there is no account to create.

What Is Stored on Your Device

StyleSnap stores two things in Chrome's local extension storage, on your device only:

  • your settings (interface options, output language, output format, AI option);
  • a library of your last 40 captures, so they are still there when you reopen the panel.

You can delete any capture, or clear the whole library, from the side panel. Uninstalling the extension removes all of it.

Optional On-Device AI

StyleSnap can use Chrome's built-in on-device model (Gemini Nano, through the Chrome Prompt API) to write the design intent and name the colors. The model runs locally on your computer; the design summary is not sent to us or to anyone. Chrome itself may download the model the first time you enable this option, under Google's own terms.

Permissions We Request

  • Access to http and https sites — the side panel stays open while you browse, and Chrome only lets it read the current tab and run the capture script when it has host access. StyleSnap reads a page only when you click Capture.
  • scripting — to run the capture script on the current page.
  • activeTab — to identify the tab you are capturing.
  • sidePanel — to show the interface in Chrome's side panel.
  • storage — to keep your settings and capture library on your device.

Children's Privacy

StyleSnap does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. It requires no account and no personal information.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete from our systems. Everything StyleSnap stores is on your device and can be deleted at any time from the side panel or by uninstalling the extension.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new Privacy Policy on this page and update the « Last updated » date.
