Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add my hours?
On the home screen, tap Add a range, set the start and end time, and close the sheet. The range is saved immediately — there is no separate save button. Repeat for as many ranges as the day needs.
Can I clock in and out instead?
Yes. Live tracking is off by default, because most people reconstruct their hours after the fact. Turn it on in Settings → Live tracking. You can then start and stop a shift from the app, your Lock Screen, a widget, the Dynamic Island, or by asking Siri. Elapsed time is derived from the clock, so it stays exact across backgrounding, sleep and restarts.
What happens if my shift crosses midnight?
If the end time is earlier than the start time — say 22:00 to 06:00 — the app detects the crossing on its own and counts the duration correctly. Nothing to configure.
What is auto-break?
Auto-break subtracts a fixed break from a day once it passes a threshold you choose, for example 30 minutes on any day longer than 6 hours. When a day is split across several clients, the break is shared between them in proportion to the time worked, so each client's total stays fair.
What rounding options are there?
None, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes. Rounding applies to the day total, not to each individual range.
How do I bill by client?
Create your clients in Settings → Clients, each with a colour and, optionally, its own hourly rate, postal address and email. Then tag each range with the client it belongs to. Clients without their own rate fall back to the default rate set in Settings → Billing.
Why don't I see any amounts?
Amounts appear once a rate exists. Set a default hourly rate in Settings → Billing, or give a client its own rate. The day and week amounts then show on the home screen, and every recap gains a per-client breakdown with a total to invoice.
What is a client statement?
A one-page PDF covering a single client over a period: your details, the client's details, every day worked, the hours in both HH:MM and decimal, the rate applied and the amount. Nothing about your other clients appears on it, so you can send it as it is.
It is a statement of hours worked, not an invoice. It carries no invoice number and no tax lines. Attach it to the invoice you raise elsewhere, or send it directly to clients who pay against a statement. Fill in your own details under Settings → Your details so they print at the top.
What is free, and what is Pro?
Free covers the work itself: unlimited time tracking, unlimited clients and projects, hourly rates, the amounts you are owed, and the full daily, weekly and monthly recaps including the per-client breakdown. History keeps the current and the previous calendar month.
Pro adds unlimited history, client statements, CSV and PDF export, and iCloud sync. Choose a monthly or yearly subscription — the yearly one starts with a 7-day free trial — or buy Lifetime once and keep it forever. There is no advertising in any tier.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID, then open Settings → Restore purchases. Your subscription or Lifetime unlock is restored. Note that restoring returns your Pro access, not your data — for that, turn on iCloud sync.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open the iOS Settings app → your name → Subscriptions, choose Work Hours Calculator, and cancel there. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. A Lifetime purchase never expires and needs no cancelling.
Will I lose my hours if I stop paying?
No. Your entries are never deleted. If a subscription lapses, history beyond the current and previous month is hidden rather than removed, and it comes back in full the moment Pro is active again.
How does iCloud sync work?
Turn it on in Settings → iCloud sync, on each device, signed in with the same Apple ID. Your days and clients then travel between your iPhone and iPad. Sync uses your own private iCloud storage — we have no server and never see your data.
Is my data safe?
Your entries are stored on your device with iOS file encryption, and your Pro status in the iOS Keychain. There is no account, no server of ours, no advertising and no analytics of any kind — the App Store privacy label reads « Data Not Collected », and that is literal. The only data that ever leaves your device is what you choose to export or share, and what iCloud sync carries to your own devices. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Which languages is the app in?
The interface is fully translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese. It runs in a further 24 languages with some screens falling back to English while those translations are completed. Numbers, dates and currencies always follow your region's own conventions.
